Weija Children’s Specialist Hospital begins operations
The Weija Children’s Specialist Hospital has commenced operations with a 120-bed capacity. Currently providing outpatient and emergency care, the facility is being upgraded to serve as a specialist referral centre and will soon introduce inpatient services.
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh announced the hospital's operational status following an inspection of the site. To support the facility's expansion and strengthen its workforce, the Minister ordered the immediate deployment of 10 medical doctors and 30 nurses and midwives.
Most necessary equipment has been installed, and the Ministry of Health is monitoring the facility to ensure it becomes fully operational. The Minister noted that outstanding matters between the government and the contractor are being addressed to prioritize the hospital's utility for the public.
