Weimar: Two buildings destroyed by suspected intentional explosions
Two powerful detonations occurred in the Lützendorf district of Weimar on Sunday, September 13, destroying a single-family home and an adjacent building, possibly a garage. The explosions, which took place around 11:06 AM, left the structures in ruins.
Police investigators believe the explosions were intentional and were carried out using gas cylinders. Criminal investigation specialists have been deployed to examine the circumstances. Property damage is estimated to be in the millions of euros.
A resident is currently missing. While the man who lived on the property with his wife is a primary suspect, police noted that he may have been inside the building during the blast or may have fled the scene. The man's wife is reported to be safe and is cooperating with authorities.
