Weissenhäuser Strand Passes 2026 RE-Audit for Sustainability Certification

The Weissenhäuser Strand holiday and leisure park in northern Germany successfully completed the RE-Audit of the German Private Institute for Sustainability & Economy in July 2026. The audit confirmed that the park continues to meet the ecological, economic and social requirements set out in its sustainability framework, following its initial certification in February 2026.

Spokesperson David Depenau highlighted several ongoing measures: the 4‑star beach hotel forgoes daily room cleaning to reduce water, energy and chemical use; LED lighting has been installed across many areas; the park has been self‑sufficient in energy since 2017 with its own combined heat‑and‑power plant; ISO 50001 Stage 1 certification was achieved in November 2025 to improve energy‑efficiency; regional suppliers are preferred; staff use electric vehicles and company bicycles; food waste is donated to local food banks; and regular internal training and digitalisation reduce paper consumption.

These initiatives collectively support the park’s commitment to continuous improvement in sustainability across all three pillars.
