Welcome to Elderfield farming‑horror game set for September 10 release
Indie developer Chris Cote and British publisher Kwalee announced that their new game Welcome to Elderfield will launch on Steam on 10 September. The title blends the familiar mechanics of farming simulators—crop cultivation, fishing, mining, cooking, home decoration and village relationships—with Lovecraft‑inspired horror elements. Players can grow unsettling items such as teeth and eyeballs, tend to nightmare‑like livestock, and face round‑based combat against ancient beings. An optional “Cozy Mode” lets players enjoy the peaceful farming side without combat, while a higher‑difficulty setting adds survival and battle challenges. The game features hand‑drawn horror‑manga graphics and a dark lo‑fi soundtrack. A free demo is already available on Steam and has received a 96 % positive rating from over 500 reviews.
