Welcome to Long Restaurant surpasses 2 billion yuan at Chinese box office

The Chinese film ‘Welcome to Long Restaurant’, directed by Wen Muyue and starring Shen Teng, has achieved significant commercial and critical success. In mainland China, the film's cumulative box office has surpassed 2 billion yuan, making it the 45th film in Chinese history to reach this milestone.

Critics and audiences have highlighted Shen Teng’s dramatic transition from comedy to serious acting. In the film, he portrays Xu Fu, a restaurant owner navigating the hardships of a war-torn environment in West Asia. The performance has been praised for its restraint and emotional depth, earning high ratings on platforms like Douban.

Internationally, the film is expanding its reach. Following a premiere in Kuala Lumpur on September 7, the movie is set for a wide release in Malaysia on September 11. The Malaysian release is scheduled across 110 cinemas, with distributors noting that the film’s themes of humanity and survival amidst conflict resonate with diverse ethnic audiences.
