Wellington and Palm Beach County reach agreement on Artistry Lakes dispute

Wellington and Palm Beach County officials have reached a new Interlocal Service Boundary Agreement (ISBA) to resolve a dispute regarding the annexation of the Artistry Lakes land. The revised agreement scales back the scope of a previous proposal that had faced backlash from the Palm Beach County Commission.

The original agreement, approved by the Wellington Village Council in August, covered a larger area along the Southern Blvd. corridor. County commissioners had rejected that version because it included the unincorporated Arden community and land owned by the Leonard Land Company and PBA Holdings, raising concerns about future annexations and the loss of a previously approved workforce housing plan.

To avoid legal battles, administrators narrowed the focus of the new agreement exclusively to Artistry Lakes. Wellington Village Manager Jim Barnes stated that while the original ISBA was intended as a long-term planning framework for a larger area, the new version was reached through a statutory conflict resolution process to coordinate development and public services for the specific site.
