Wellington Dias visits Paraíba to boost goat milk production

Minister of Development and Social Assistance, Wellington Dias, is conducting a visit to Paraíba to strengthen the region's goat and sheep farming sectors. In João Pessoa, Governor Lucas Ribeiro and Minister Dias discussed initiatives to boost goat milk production, specifically focusing on the establishment of industries for goat milk powder. A project for the first such industry is already underway in Casserengue.

To support food security and combat malnutrition, the Paraíba state government and the federal government are collaborating through the Food Acquisition Program (PAA Leite). An initial investment of R$ 3 million from each government level will be used to distribute milk powder to families.

Additionally, the Minister's agenda includes visiting the municipality of Prata to participate in the XII Expoprata. During this visit, he will meet with the Association of Goats and Sheep of Prata (ACCOP) to observe local production structures and discuss how the sector contributes to regional employment and income generation.
