Wellington Fagundes launches Mato Grosso governor campaign, pledges clean record and decentralised administration

Senator Wellington Fagundes (PL) was officially launched as the pre‑candidate for the governorship of Mato Grosso at the party’s state convention. Emphasising his 33‑year political career without any convictions or investigations, Fagundes challenged opponents to produce any legal case against him and asserted he has never used his mandates to benefit family members. He promised to present a detailed government plan in the coming weeks and to engage in public debates, focusing on “the truth.”

In a later press briefing, Fagundes outlined how he will select a vice‑governor. The first criterion will be which allied party is granted the right to nominate the running mate; the second will be the candidate’s technical profile, ensuring complementary skills and support for a decentralised state administration. He said the vice‑governor should be active in day‑to‑day governance and help secure resources for the state.
