Wellington Fagundes proposes expanding tax incentives in Mato Grosso

Wellington Fagundes, a candidate for the government of Mato Grosso representing the PL party, is advocating for the expansion of tax incentives to include small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives, and producers. His proposal aims to maintain benefits for those who invest and generate employment while ensuring development policies reach a broader range of companies and regions.

Fagundes highlighted the current concentration of these benefits, noting data from the State Court of Accounts (TCE-MT) which showed that in 2023, 30 beneficiaries accounted for R$ 4.6 billion in tax waivers, representing 43.3% of the total. The ten largest beneficiaries alone concentrated approximately R$ 2.9 billion.

The candidate proposes using incentives as a tool for economic decentralization, specifically targeting the Baixada Cuiabana and less industrialized regions to stimulate new industries and strengthen family farming chains. Additionally, he suggests establishing public indicators—such as investments made, jobs created, and local economic impact—to measure the return on these granted benefits.
