Wellness economy grows as consumers demand science-backed health solutions

The global wellness economy is experiencing significant growth, with the Global Wellness Institute reporting a value of $6.8 trillion in 2024, projected to reach $9.8 trillion by 2029. As this sector expands, consumer behavior is shifting toward more rigorous scrutiny of health products and services.

In the United States, wellness spending has exceeded $500 billion annually. According to McKinsey, a growing segment of consumers—specifically 'maximalist optimizers' and 'confident enthusiasts'—are conducting extensive research before purchasing. These consumers increasingly demand science-backed solutions, often questioning whether a finished functional nutrition product has been studied as a whole or if brands are merely referencing individual ingredient data.

In response to these evolving needs for integrated health, Maison Santé is set to open in Taipei on September 18. Founded by Emily Chung, a former clinical nurse and health management expert, the service aims to bridge the gap between medical diagnosis and daily lifestyle. Rather than offering standard spa treatments, the facility utilizes a personalized approach involving health data analysis, aromatherapy, and sound healing to help clients manage stress and long-term wellness.
