Wells and Farmington residents face mobile home rent and EMS votes
Voters in Wells and Farmington are approaching elections that include significant local ordinances. In Wells, residents will consider a mobile home lot rent stabilization ordinance alongside several other referendums. These include a proposal to authorize 14 full-time positions to replace Wells Emergency Medical Services following its planned cessation of operations, a drainage easement relocation, and the issuance of up to $5,500,000 in bonds for fire station renovations. Wells voters will also decide on a retroactive 180-day moratorium on data center developments.
In Farmington, residents are being urged to support a municipal lot rent ordinance. Local mobile home park residents have reported significant rent increases, with some costs rising from $385 to $442 over 17 months. Advocates argue the ordinance is necessary to provide stability for residents, particularly seniors on limited incomes, who face the risk of being forced out of their homes due to unaffordable land rents.
