Wells Fargo donates $250,000 to Alaska vocational training center

On July 23, 2026 Wells Fargo contributed $250,000 to the Alaska Vocational and Technical Center (AVTEC), a division of the Alaska's Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The funds will expand scholarship opportunities and support faculty for students pursuing skilled‑trade careers.

The donation was announced at an event in Homer’s Bay Weld Boats attended by Governor Mike Dunleavy, AVTEC director Cory Ortiz, Wells Fargo public‑affairs head Jason Rosenberg, and TV host Mike Rowe, whose mikeroweWORKS Foundation also funds trade scholarships. Dunleavy said, “Alaska is the land of opportunity to build rewarding careers in a broad array of industries,” while Rosenberg added, “Strong communities depend on a skilled workforce and access to opportunity.” AVTEC will use the money to remove barriers for Alaskans seeking vocational training and to recruit and retain instructors.
