Wels police arrest woman wanted for human trafficking

During a routine school route safety check in Wels, Austria, police arrested a 35-year-old woman who was the subject of an international search.

Officers intercepted a black vehicle with French license plates on Salzburger Straße. The vehicle contained six occupants, including a 33-year-old driver, a 21-year-old passenger, two minors aged four and eight, a twelve-year-old, and the 35-year-old woman. While the vehicle passed technical inspection, the children were found to be unrestrained without proper child safety seats.

A background check via the Schengen Information System revealed a European arrest warrant for the 35-year-old woman regarding human trafficking charges in France. She was taken into custody and transported to the Dragonerstraße police station.
