Welsh Fire sees record attendance under new ownership

Welsh Fire has reported record-breaking attendance and digital engagement following a change in ownership structure. The franchise is now jointly owned on a 50:50 basis by Glamorgan Cricket and US-based entrepreneur Sanjay Govil, as part of a £520m process by the England and Wales Cricket Board regarding The Hundred competition.

Under this new model, the team saw nearly 10% year-on-year growth in attendance for both men’s and women’s matches at Sophia Gardens. The franchise achieved its highest volume of ticket sales since its inception in 2020, alongside record crowd figures for women’s cricket in Wales. Digital metrics also saw significant increases, with social media reach rising by 2840% since June.

Accounting firm Kilsby Williams provided specialist financial advice to Glamorgan Cricket during the transaction and has served as the team’s auditors for the past year.
