Welsh food festivals celebrate local producers in Cardigan and Aberdyfi

Local food festivals in Wales celebrated regional producers and community spirit over a weekend in mid-August.

In Cardigan, the 26th annual River and Food Festival was organized by the non-profit Menter Aberteifi. The event featured street food, workshops, and live entertainment, including performances by the Howni Shanty singers. Culinary highlights included demonstrations by MasterChef Professionals semi-finalist Ludo Dieumegard and Cardigan Bay Fish. The festival serves as a vital source of income for local traders, many of whom participate annually.

Simultaneously, the coastal village of Aberdyfi held its ninth annual Food Festival. Organizers reported high visitor turnout and successful sales for local vendors, including Welsh cheese producer Caws Cenarth and Breadsmiths. The event showcased a variety of Welsh gins, ciders, and local meats, accompanied by musical performances from groups such as the Machynlleth Wind Band and the Tra Môr sea shanty group.
