Welsh Minister visits Morlais tidal scheme to support marine energy

Welsh Government Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy, Adam Price, visited the Morlais tidal scheme on Ynys Môn to review the project's progress and its role in the transition to net zero.

The scheme aims to utilize tidal energy to provide reliable, predictable renewable electricity while strengthening the UK’s long-term energy resilience. According to Menter Môn Morlais, the project is designed to support economic renewal by creating skilled jobs, fostering local supply-chain growth, and providing opportunities for apprentices and local businesses.

Adam Price stated that the project serves as an example of how natural resources can power economic renewal and ensure communities remain central to the renewable energy transition. John Idris Jones, Chair of Menter Môn Morlais, noted that the community-led project seeks to ensure economic benefits are felt locally on Ynys Môn.
