Welsh organisations receive six RSPCA animal welfare awards

Four organisations in Wales have been honoured with six platinum-level RSPCA PawPrints Awards for their exceptional contributions to animal welfare. The scheme recognises public sector entities, including councils and emergency services, that exceed legal standards to improve animal lives.

The platinum recipients include Monmouthshire County Council for contingency planning, Cardiff Council for stray dog services, Hope Rescue for kennelling, and Shared Regulatory Services, which received three platinum awards for its work in kennelling, licensing, and stray dog management. Additionally, Animal Licensing Wales and Cardiff Council earned gold awards in kennelling, while Newport City Council received a gold for stray dog services.

This year’s awards emphasised prevention, highlighting how early intervention and responsible pet ownership can improve welfare outcomes while reducing long-term cost pressures on public services.
