Welsh planners approve conversions of historic buildings into tourism venues

Cyngor Gwynedd approved the conversion of a derelict stone barn in Llanberis into a two‑bedroom self‑catering holiday let. The proposal, submitted by developer Ed Harmer, aims to preserve the structure, create high‑quality tourist accommodation and generate local jobs within Snowdonia National Park.

In Deganwy, owners Mark and Amanda Richards have submitted plans to turn the Grade II‑listed Gothic mansion Tyn y Coed into a mixed‑use destination venue featuring a furniture shop, café, apartments and office space. The project, pending planning permission, seeks to revitalize the vacant building, preserve its historic façade and boost the local economy.

Both projects are intended to protect historic architecture while expanding tourism‑related services in North Wales.
