Wenchi Traditional Council suspends Twafohene indefinitely

The Wenchi Traditional Council in Ghana’s Bono Region has indefinitely suspended Nana Akora Tua Adutwum Kyeremeh Siasaa Kufour IV from his role as Twafohene. The decision was announced by Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, the Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area and president of the council.

As part of the suspension, the council has overturned the Twafo stool to facilitate investigations into alleged breaches of traditional authority. While specific details were not disclosed, the Paramount Chief indicated that the allegations involve matters related to land.

During the council meeting in Wenchi, Osagyefo Tabrako III directed the public and media not to recognize Nana Kufour IV in his capacity as a sub-chief. He further instructed the suspended official to cease using the traditional title or presenting himself as a sub-chief. Failure to comply with these directives may result in additional sanctions.
