Wendell Moore Jr signs one‑year deal with Italy’s Virtus Bologna

American guard/forward Wendell Moore Jr., a 2022 NBA draft pick of the Houston Rockets who has played for the Detroit Pistons, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets and in the G League, has signed a one‑year contract with Virtus Bologna. The agreement, announced on 28 July, marks Moore’s first professional stint in Europe and will see him compete in the EuroLeague under head coach Alex Mumbrù.

Moore arrives from the G League, where he averaged 19.5 points, 5 rebounds and 3.3 assists with a 39 % three‑point rate. He previously starred at Duke University, earning the Julius Erving Award as the nation’s top small forward. Earlier transfer rumors linked him to Partizan Belgrade and to the Italian club Roma, but the player opted for the Bologna side, which completed its roster for the upcoming season.

Virtus Bologna, the defending Italian champion, expects Moore’s versatility to add depth to its wing positions as the club prepares for domestic and EuroLeague competition.
