Wendi McLendon-Covey disputes Jeff Garlin’s account of ‘The Goldbergs’ exit

Wendi McLendon-Covey has publicly disputed Jeff Garlin’s account regarding his controversial departure from the ABC sitcom ‘The Goldbergs’. During an appearance on The Daily Beast’s ‘Obsessed’ podcast, Garlin attributed his behavior and eventual exit from the show to being undiagnosed with bipolar disorder at the time.

Garlin stated that his mental health condition caused him to fluctuate between being withdrawn, manic, or “really, really mean,” noting that McLendon-Covey was “very resentful and angry” when he left. He expressed empathy for her, suggesting his behavior affected their relationship.

McLendon-Covey responded to clips of the interview on Instagram, stating, “Let’s just say I remember things very differently, as does the crew, the other actors, the writers, and our executives.” Previous reports indicated Garlin exited the series following allegations of misconduct and abusive behavior.
