Wendy Williams demands freedom during rare New York City appearance
Former daytime talk show host Wendy Williams made a rare public appearance in New York City on Wednesday, marking her first sighting since February. During the outing, Williams responded to inquiries regarding her ongoing legal situation by stating, “I want out!”
Williams has been involved in a legal battle since May 2022, when Wells Fargo petitioned a New York Supreme Court judge to declare her an “incapacitated person” requiring a temporary guardian to manage her affairs. Attorney Sabrina E. Morrissey was subsequently appointed as her legal guardian. Williams has consistently contested the necessity of the guardianship and the severity of her health conditions.
Her health struggles include Graves’ disease, primary progressive aphasia, and frontotemporal dementia, diagnoses her team announced in early 2024. These conditions have impacted her speech, behavior, and movement. Williams has previously expressed a desire to regain control of her finances and autonomy.
