Wendy Williams reflects on guardianship and health struggles

Television personality Wendy Williams has reportedly reflected on her ongoing legal guardianship, describing her current circumstances as a form of “karma” for her past career in celebrity gossip.

Williams, who has been under guardianship since 2022, faces significant restrictions on her autonomy. Reports indicate she is unable to use a telephone freely, host guests, or leave her facility without the consent of her legal guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey. Williams has described her living conditions as feeling like being “in prison,” noting that she cannot even eat meals outside of her room or use an elevator without supervision.

Her health challenges include diagnoses of primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, which her team says they are highlighting to raise awareness for others facing similar conditions. In March 2025, Williams reportedly changed her legal team, hiring attorney Joe Tacopina.
