Wendy's stock rises on reports of potential take-private bid

Shares of Wendy's rose significantly on Wednesday following reports that Trian Fund Management, led by investor Nelson Peltz, may lead a bid to take the fast-food chain private.

According to reports from the Financial Times, the potential go-private effort is being organized by a consortium that reportedly includes BlueFive Capital, an investment firm based in the UAE, and the Flynn Group, one of Wendy's largest franchisees. Trian Fund Management currently holds a stake of over 16% in the company.

Nelson Peltz has previously indicated interest in enhancing shareholder value and taking control of the company, noting that the stock appeared undervalued. Wendy's stated it would thoroughly review any proposal submitted by Trian in accordance with its fiduciary duties. The company's board will determine whether to negotiate directly or initiate a broader auction process if a formal proposal is received.
