Bayer Leverkusen signs Guéla Doué as transfer window closes
Bayer Leverkusen has completed the signing of Ivorian right-back Guéla Doué from Racing Strasbourg. The 23-year-old, who has represented Ivory Coast in the World Cup, has signed a contract through June 2031. The transfer fee is reported to be approximately €30 million in fixed costs, potentially rising to €37.5 million including bonuses. Doué reportedly chose Leverkusen over interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
In separate transfer activity, Werder Bremen has reached an agreement to loan Belgian winger Samuel Mbangula to Italian Serie A side Bologna. The deal includes a €2 million loan fee and an option for Bologna to purchase the player permanently for €12.5 million. Mbangula, who joined Bremen from Juventus for €10 million last year, struggled to secure a consistent starting role in the Bundesliga.
Additionally, Werder Bremen has secured the loan of Brazilian defender Arthur from Bayer Leverkusen for one season to bolster their defensive line. The move comes as Bremen seeks to address personnel shortages in their backline.
