Werder Bremen sells Karim Coulibaly to Racing Strasbourg for €20m

SV Werder Bremen has accepted a third offer from French Ligue 1 club Racing Strasbourg for 19-year-old central defender Karim Coulibaly. The transfer fee is reported to be a guaranteed 20 million euros plus bonuses, with the potential total exceeding 25 million euros due to performance-related payments and a high sell-on clause.

This deal marks the second-highest sale in Werder Bremen's history, surpassed only by the 2009 transfer of Diego to Juventus. For Racing Strasbourg, the acquisition represents a record-breaking purchase. The transfer remains subject to a successful medical examination.

Werder Bremen had previously rejected two lower bids from Strasbourg that fell below their 20 million euro minimum requirement. The club's decision to finalize the deal now provides financial security and contributes to a summer transfer revenue that has already exceeded 40 million euros, allowing the club to reinvest in other squad positions.
