Werder Bremen signs Brazilian defender Arthur on loan

Werder Bremen has announced the loan signing of 23-year-old Brazilian right-back Arthur until the end of the current season. Arthur, who belongs to Bayer Leverkusen, has participated in 31 matches during the 2025/26 campaign, recording two goals and three assists across the Bundesliga, the German Cup, and the Champions League.

Arthur expressed motivation for the new challenge, noting his familiarity with the club’s history and his desire to regain a position in the Brazilian national team. Werder Bremen’s football director, Peter Niemeyer, stated that Arthur is expected to provide immediate assistance due to his established experience and quality within the Bundesliga.

Arthur joined European football in 2023 following a successful stint with Brazil’s U-20 team and his move from América-MG to Bayer Leverkusen. During his time with Leverkusen, he was part of squads that won the Bundesliga, the German Cup, and the German Super Cup. He becomes the 11th Brazilian player to represent Werder Bremen.
