Werder Bremen U23 finishes pre‑season with 3‑3 draw and 2‑1 win in test matches

Werder Bremen's U23 side played two pre‑season friendlies in late July. On the first match they drew 3‑3 against Oberliga club Blumenthaler SV. The visitors opened the scoring from a free‑kick, but Werder equalised through Akram‑Dine Mohamadou, Jona Renner and Amer Buljubasic before the visitors secured the final equaliser.

In the second fixture the team beat Regionalliga West side Sportfreunde Lotte 2‑1 at the SV Bramsche sports ground. Coach Cedric Makiadi returned to the sidelines after recuperating from a knee injury and praised the squad's performance. Goals came from Jakob Wiehe (two) for Werder, with Lotte replying via Can Akbas. The win closes the preparation period ahead of the Regionalliga Nord season opener against VfB Oldenburg.
