Werder Bremen winger Justin Njinmah sidelined with long-term injury

Werder Bremen is facing significant squad depth challenges following a serious injury to winger Justin Njinmah. The 25-year-old sustained a thigh muscle injury during a 1-4 defeat against SC Freiburg and is expected to be sidelined for several months.

This injury follows the recent long-term absence of Jens Stage. Despite the loss of key offensive players, Sport Director Clemens Fritz confirmed that the club decided not to sign a direct replacement for Njinmah before the transfer window closed, citing the short notice and current market conditions. Fritz noted that the squad contains players capable of covering multiple positions.

On the final day of the transfer window, Werder Bremen did secure defensive reinforcements, announcing the loan signings of Brazilian defender Arthur from Bayer Leverkusen and Moussa Ndiaye from RSC Anderlecht.
