Werder Bremen women announce season fixtures including Hamburg derby and Japan friendly

SV Werder Bremen's women's team will open the 2025‑26 Bundesliga season on 24 August at the Weserstadion against 1. FSV Mainz 05. The schedule released by the German Football Association (DFB) adds further home fixtures at the main stadium, notably a Nordderby with Hamburger SV on 11 September and a test match for the Germany women's national team against Japan on 13 October.

Coach Friederike “Fritzy” Kromp highlighted the significance of playing the derby in front of a full Weserstadion crowd, recalling the record attendance of 37,000 fans last season when Werder won 2‑0. The October friendly follows the earlier tribune collapse in July, with repairs completed in time for the match. Additional home games against RB Leipzig, VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart will be held at the smaller Platz 11 arena.

The DFB confirmed the first five league match dates, and the club aims to build confidence from a strong start toward the upcoming derby and the international showcase later in the month.
