Werne City Library to close for renovations

The Werne City Library will undergo partial and full closures during November and December due to extensive renovation work. The facility will be completely closed from November 2 to November 7 and from December 14 to December 18. During the period from November 10 to December 12, only the children's department on the ground floor will remain open.

The modernization project focuses on the first floor and is supported by a 100,000 euro donation from the Sparkasse an der Lippe Foundation. Improvements include new shelving, seating, an information desk, new flooring, and fresh paint. The non-fiction section for adults is being redesigned to serve as a dedicated learning and workspace.

Library director Patricia Buhle has advised patrons to borrow extra reading material in advance. To accommodate the closures, loan periods for books and other media will be extended, and patrons are encouraged not to return items from the adult section during the renovation periods. The library will observe holiday closures from December 23 to January 4, returning to regular hours on January 5.
