Wero mobile payment wallet expands in Luxembourg and France

The European Payments Initiative (EPI) is expanding the reach of its Wero mobile payment wallet. In Luxembourg, Wero has launched for customers of BIL, BGL BNP Paribas, Banque Raiffeisen, POST Luxembourg, and Spuerkeess. The service is set to replace Payconiq, which will cease operations on September 30, 2026. Existing Payconiq QR codes on invoices and in stores will remain readable via the Wero app until the end of the year.

In France, Wero is expanding its functionality through a partnership with Orange. Customers of the mobile brand Sosh can now pay their subscription bills using Wero, with transactions confirmed through their banking apps. This initial rollout is primarily available to BNP Paribas customers, though Sosh noted that customers from German and Belgian banks may also participate if their respective institutions support Wero for online commerce. This move marks the first time the European payment method has been used for subscription billing with a French provider.
