Wesley Sneijder auctions rare World Cup memorabilia

Former Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder has auctioned several rare pieces of football memorabilia through an online auction. The collection featured items closely linked to his career and major international tournaments, particularly matches involving the Brazilian national team.

Notable sales included Sneijder’s 2010 World Cup Silver Ball trophy, which sold for R$ 112.7 thousand. Other significant items included the match ball from the Netherlands' 2-1 victory over South Africa, which fetched R$ 36.3 thousand, and his bronze medal from the 2014 World Cup, which sold for R$ 38.5 thousand.

The auction also featured relics from his time at major European clubs such as Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Ajax, including a 2011 Coppa Italia medal and a jersey worn by Cristiano Ronaldo during a Real Madrid match against Galatasaray. Sneijder stated that while the items are precious, he keeps the memories in his heart and hopes the sale brings fans closer to football history.
