Wesseling and Bornheim boil water advisory lifted

Health authorities in the Rhein-Erft and Rhein-Sieg districts have lifted the boil water advisory for Wesseling and Bornheim. The precautionary measure, which was implemented last Friday, is no longer necessary following several consecutive negative water samples.

Laboratory analyses confirmed that the drinking water in the distribution network was never contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The initial alarm was triggered by a single positive finding at a newly installed sampling tap within a distribution room at the Urfeld waterworks. While the fixture itself showed bacterial contamination, tests proved this did not affect the main water flow. The affected sampling tap has since been dismantled.

As a result of the clear findings, the temporary chlorination of the water supply is being gradually phased out. Residents can once again use tap water without boiling it for drinking, food preparation, or other household purposes.
