West African cultural festivals Dunenyo Zã and Anohou celebrated
The 8th edition of the Dunenyo Zã traditional festival was celebrated in the Grand Lomé region of Togo on August 15, 2026. Held at the Avédji Agnyigbé communal stadium, the event brought together the Aflao, Bè, and Agoènyivé communities to honor their shared history and the founding of Togo's capital. In Côte d'Ivoire, the 14th edition of the Anohou Festival took place in Afféré 2 within the Moronou region. Organized by the Anohou tribe, the festival focused on the economic and social empowerment of rural women. The event featured traditional dances, storytelling, and musical performances, with local authorities including the Mayor of Abengourou, Hervé Patrick Adom, in attendance to support the preservation of ancestral heritage.
