West African financial developments: BIDC rating upgrade and Burkina Faso bond listing

Moody's has upgraded the long-term issuer rating of the ECOWAS Development Bank (BIDC) from B2 to B1 with a stable outlook. The agency cited the institution's improved financial health, adequate capitalization levels, and resilient asset quality. This upgrade follows efforts by the bank to diversify funding sources and strengthen its financial position, supported by the African Development Bank's entry into its capital.

In Burkina Faso, the government's Diaspora Bonds, which raised 151.5 billion FCFA, are scheduled to be listed on the Regional Securities Exchange (BRVM) on September 3, 2026. The two bond tranches, offering interest rates of 6.75% and 6.85%, were designed to fund strategic infrastructure and economic development projects. The listing will allow investors to trade these securities on the regional financial market.
