West African Power Pool to hold 21st General Assembly in Guinea
The West African Power Pool (WAPP), a specialized institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and Électricité de Guinée (EDG-SA) have announced that the 21st Session of the WAPP General Assembly will take place in Conakry, Republic of Guinea, on November 6 and 7, 2026.
As the organization’s supreme governing body, the assembly will convene Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers from 60 member utilities. The meeting aims to address challenges regarding the development and integration of the West African electricity sector, review organizational activities, and assess progress on priority electricity interconnection projects and the establishment of a Regional Electricity Market.
Under the theme “Consolidating the Regional Electricity Market: A Driver of Resilience for West Africa,” the event will focus on the role of cross-border electricity trade and energy resource complementarity in strengthening supply security and promoting competitive electricity pricing. The assembly will be held under the patronage of Guinean President Mamadi Doumbouya.
A coordination meeting for WAPP’s Technical and Financial Partners is scheduled for November 5, 2026. This session will serve as a platform to review implementation progress, identify financing needs, and strengthen coordination among development partners to accelerate regional electricity infrastructure.
