West African professionals and students leverage international partnerships for mobility

West African nations are utilizing international educational and professional partnerships to enhance workforce mobility and skill development.

In Senegal, seventeen young professionals trained in construction and public works (BTP) have secured work contracts in France. This initiative, a partnership between CSFP-BTP and OMNIA International, aims to facilitate organized, skill-based migration. During a departure ceremony in Diamniadio, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training Idrissa Samb encouraged the participants to use this international experience to eventually contribute skills and expertise back to Senegal.

In Togo, academic cooperation with China continues to drive student mobility. Many Togolese students are pursuing higher education in China through government scholarships, focusing on fields such as computer science, health, engineering, agriculture, and environmental sciences. The Confucius Institute at the University of Lomé serves as a linguistic and cultural bridge, supporting this trend as economic ties between China and Africa strengthen.
