West African trade actors implement new logistics and food security measures

In Chad, the Conseil des Chargeurs du Tchad (COC-Tchad) has launched a two-day training workshop in N’Djamena to enhance foreign trade efficiency. The initiative aims to reduce costs and delays by training stakeholders on procedures such as the Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (BESC), maritime and road transport, and port operations.

Simultaneously, the Conseil national des importateurs, investisseurs, industriels tchadiens et exportateurs (Conite) announced plans to reactivate its 'Les Magasins Bénis' project. This move responds to presidential calls for food security and aims to stabilize the prices of essential goods like rice, maize, and oil through strict price caps and the suspension of food exports.

In West Africa, the Senegalese Shippers’ Council (Cosec) is working to improve the competitiveness of the Dakar–Bissau corridor. Stakeholders met in Saly to address challenges including administrative delays, regulatory hurdles, and road infrastructure to ensure more fluid trade between Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.
