West Australian Symphony Orchestra announces 2027 season

The West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) has announced its 2027 season, titled ‘Joy Lives Here’. The program features a mix of classical masterpieces and five world premiere commissions.

Principal Conductor and Artistic Adviser Asher Fisch will lead several key performances, beginning with Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Other major works in the repertoire include Bruckner’s Fifth Symphony, Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony, and programs dedicated to Wagner and Strauss. The season also marks the orchestra’s final year at UWA before returning to the renovated Perth Concert Hall for its centenary in 2028.

New musical works to be premiered include Carl Vine’s Piano Concerto No. 3, Richard Mills’ Percussion Symphony, a new work by Elizabeth Younan, James Ledger’s Cello Concerto, and Lachlan Skipworth’s Oboe Concerto. The season will feature various guest conductors and soloists, including Kirill Karabits, Vadym Kholodenko, and Li-Wei Qin. Beyond Perth, the orchestra plans to perform in regional areas such as Bunbury, Mandurah, and Albany.
