West Bank agricultural losses exceed $3 million due to attacks
The Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture reported that attacks on the agricultural sector in the West Bank caused over $3.6 million in losses between October 1 and October 8.
The reported damage includes the destruction and uprooting of trees, burning of crops, theft of produce, and the targeting of water sources and agricultural facilities. Additionally, the ministry noted that land has been bulldozed and farmers have been prevented from accessing their fields as settlers expand outposts and construct roads.
Jenin suffered the highest financial impact with $2.63 million in losses, followed by Ramallah and Hebron. These developments coincide with the start of the Palestinian olive harvesting season. The ministry described the situation as a continuous targeting of food security and the foundations of production, calling on the international community and rights groups to provide protection for farmers and their land.
