West Bank faces most dangerous period since 1948, says Palestinian leader

Mustafa al-Bergusi, Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, has stated that the West Bank is currently facing its most dangerous period since 1948. In an interview, he declared that the Oslo Accords between the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Israel are effectively dead.

Al-Bergusi argued that Israel is using settlers as a vanguard force to implement plans for the annexation and Judaization of the West Bank, aimed at forcing Palestinians to migrate. He highlighted the blockade in the town of Kusra, south of Nablus, as an example of the increasing integration of roles between the Israeli military and settlers.

He further noted that the transfer of security authority in settlements from the military to the police is a step toward handing over Palestinian territories to settlers. Al-Bergusi compared current actions to the 1948 Nakba, describing the situation as a dangerous form of ethnic cleansing facilitated by international silence and a lack of regional action.
