West Bank: Israeli raids and settler attacks impact olive harvest

Israeli forces and settlers have intensified attacks against Palestinian farmers in the occupied West Bank during the olive harvest season. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, these actions resulted in agricultural losses exceeding $1.9 million in a single week between October 8 and October 15. The damage included the destruction of at least 3,522 fruit trees, of which 2,667 were olive trees, through methods such as cutting, uprooting, and burning.

In addition to property damage, settlers reportedly stole approximately 8.6 tons of olives. The Hebron governorate was identified as the most heavily affected area, with losses estimated at $455,000. The Ministry noted that farmers were frequently prevented from accessing their lands, compromising their seasonal income.

Simultaneously, Israeli forces conducted raids across several governorates, including Jenin, Hebron, Nablus, and Jerusalem. These operations led to the arrest of 36 Palestinians. Specific arrests were reported in Jenin, where 10 individuals were detained, and in Masafer Yatta, where 14 people were arrested. The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission documented 17 separate incidents of violence against farmers and their land on a single Thursday.
