West Bank: Palestine seeks aid to end Al-Mughayyir siege
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an urgent appeal for international intervention following a ‘suffocating siege’ on the West Bank town of Al-Mughayyir. According to the ministry, Israeli military actions and illegal settler activity have restricted resident movement to just two hours per day for the past 20 days. The ministry further reported that ambulances have been barred from entering the area, characterizing the situation as a deliberate attempt to isolate the town economically and militarily to force displacement.
In a separate diplomatic development, Indonesia has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take concrete actions against Israeli violations in Palestine, including illegal settlement expansion and land annexation. Speaking at an extraordinary meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta urged the organization to move beyond verbal condemnations and categorize settler violence as terrorism. During the same meeting, the OIC appointed Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed as Secretary-General for the 2026-2031 term.
