West Bank settlements and outposts reach 592

The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Against the Separation Barrier reported that the number of Israeli settlements and outposts in the occupied West Bank reached 592 as of July. According to the organization, Israel now controls approximately 42% of the total area of the West Bank, which equates to about 5,660 square kilometers. This control extends to 71% of Area C and 91% of the Palestinian Jordan Valley.

As of the end of July, the settler population in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, reached approximately 780,000 people. This includes 333,600 residents in Jerusalem settlements and 446,400 in other parts of the West Bank. The settlers are distributed across 192 colonies and 400 outposts, 231 of which are categorized as pastoral outposts.

The report highlights an acceleration in settlement activity since the conflict in the Gaza Strip began in October 2023. At the end of 2023, the number of settlements and outposts stood at 180 each.
