West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya targeted in extortion attempt
Kolkata Police have arrested an individual from the Salkia area of Howrah district for allegedly attempting to extort money from a real estate company by impersonating West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya.
According to Bhattacharya, the suspect used his name, designation, and a letter containing his signature to demand funds from the company. Following a complaint lodged with the Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station, investigations revealed that a person from the Jalpaiguri district was orchestrating the scheme.
Bhattacharya emphasized the party's "zero tolerance policy" regarding extortion and corruption. He previously warned BJP workers that any involvement in illegal activities or extortion would result in strict action, urging members to move away from the political cultures of past administrations and promote clean politics.
