West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari outlines Gangasagar Mela and education plans

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced plans to elevate the Gangasagar Mela to an international event by 2027. During an administrative review meeting in Kakdwip, Adhikari committed to completing a bridge over the Muriganga River by 2029, criticizing previous administrations for failing to initiate land acquisition or project reports.

Regarding education, the Chief Minister proposed introducing regular debates, quizzes, and impromptu speeches in schools to instill nationalist sentiments in students. He suggested these programs occur at least three days annually to counter divisive forces. Additionally, he recommended providing students with exposure to traditional Indian musical instruments, such as the tabla and santoor, to foster cultural talent.

Adhikari also issued public warnings against social issues, specifically urging families to prevent child marriage and premature pregnancies, emphasizing the importance of higher education and financial independence for young women. He further called for public vigilance against groups he described as threats to the country's democratic structure.
