West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari orders rapid deportation of illegal Bangladeshis at Hakimpur border

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari called for the swift removal of illegal Bangladeshi nationals gathered at the Hakimpur checkpoint in North 24 Parganas district. He said the individuals should be deported under the existing Foreigners Act and instructed police to hand them directly to the Border Security Force, bypassing courts. The state has set up holding centres to house detainees until deportation formalities are completed, part of a broader "detect, delete and deport" policy aimed at curbing illegal entry.

Adhikari warned that those who do not leave promptly could face further action, emphasizing the need for coordinated effort with central authorities to strengthen border surveillance and enforcement.
