West Bengal explores AI for urban infrastructure and civic services

At the CREDAI Kolkata TECHCON 2026 event, officials and industry experts discussed the integration of artificial intelligence to modernize urban management and the real estate sector in India.

West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul stated that the state government is exploring AI applications for various civic functions. Proposed uses include property tax assessment, revenue generation through hoarding monitoring, waterlogging detection, and identifying aging pipelines for replacement. The minister also expressed interest in using technology to monitor the structural health of bridges and manage urban parking challenges.

Industry leaders at the conference noted that AI adoption is becoming essential for the real estate sector due to the increasing scale and complexity of residential projects. Experts emphasized that technology can improve construction quality, streamline project management, and ensure developers meet deadlines, ultimately providing a better experience for homebuyers.
