West Bengal government announces new industrial policies and public programs

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced plans to attract industrial investment through new policies, including upcoming changes to the land ceiling Act and a package of investor incentives. Adhikari stated that these measures aim to address unemployment among educated youth and reduce the number of migrant laborers working outside the state. He noted that the government is preparing a roadmap for these industrial and land policies and intends to hand over land for 33 projects soon.

In terms of specific developments, Adhikari mentioned that the Adani Group is scheduled to lay the foundation stone for a 2,000-bed hospital on September 24. He also referenced ongoing industrial activity involving the dairy cooperative Amul and expressed intentions to meet with the Ambani family regarding state development. The Chief Minister pledged to eliminate extortion and ‘cut money’ syndicates to create a pro-business environment.

Additionally, the state government has unveiled a series of public outreach and celebratory programs. This includes ‘Seva Sankalp Diwas’ on October 7 to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administrative service, featuring virtual connections with citizens across all districts. Other planned events include ‘Annapurna Diwas’ on September 17 and ‘Pradip Utsav’, a festival involving the lighting of one crore earthen lamps across the state.
